I wonder if you too, sometimes come across bits of useless information, which somehow refuse to let go of your mind? Even after you have forgotten everything else which you have researched at the time, these titbits reverberates inside you nogging.
And they do , sometimes, have a way of perplexing one to no end! For example: why are Panama hats called Panama hats, if they are manufactured in Ecuador?
Ok then, enough is enough, I am leaving some of them here, on the off chance that it is of use to a passer by.
1. The dot over the letter 'i' is called a tittle
2. The shortest war ever, that between Britain and Zanzibar in 1896 lasted all of 38 minutes!
3. Peculiar book the Bible is, in some regards at least. What with devoting some 500 verses on prayer, less than 500verses on faith, but over 2000 verses on money and posessions.
4. An orgasm for a pig last up to 15 minutes, and a lion can have sex up to 50 times a day.
5. A heavily armed British Lysander world war 2 aeroplane, crewed by 12 men,has an operating manual of 50 pages only. In comparrison some modern cellular (mobile) phones ( like a certain Samsung ) make do with 180.
6. On the Isle of man...(an island to the west of England... between Ireland and England), there is an old law that still exists. You may not murder anyone... but if a scotman in a kilt should walk on the beach, you may by law shoot him with a bow and arrow.....(and literally get away with murder)
7. The colour of the black box in a commercial airplane is orange.
8. The Canary Islands in the Pacific are named after a dog.
