katrienakatryn - this is a very nice display of historical tidbits.
I cannot help, when I read lists like these, to have to chuckle at the irony with which the history of the few becomes the history of the many..
I know I have never grown up and will pass by the life with little if no reasonable contribution to life here on planet earth. Yet, when I read interesting lists like these you have compiled, I am struck generally how history elevates the religious, the warring and the rich - and between those three categories of humans - the world shall possibly never settle down into a place where the history of each soul would be held as sacred.
In any case - enjoying these offerings. Thanks!

Once you've gotten the rabbit, you can forget the snare. Words exist because of meaning. Once you've gotten the meaning, you can forget the words. Where can I find a man who has forgotten words so I can talk with him? ~Chuang Tzu

I just realized the translation chain - from Chinese to the English. Then, by , to the Afrikaans. It is like bridging a gap of time and transmission or perhaps like fine-tuning a radio. The gift of a person's time to do so, is really something of value. Thank you.

Thank you, my dear piph. Yes, is translation not incredible? And beyond that, translations in time? Thank you for that thought. Translation seems easy. As explaining a diffulty of predicament. But is not always that easy. And it is not always easy to bring home the thought. And sometimes the thought evaporates. And the explanation with it. But as long as the original meaning can stay intact. Perhaps then. After time has elapsed. The thought might generate a new life of its own? Do I make any sense? I believe not. Not even to my own ear. But bear with me.
